PenDriveBackup

PenDriveBackup is a backup utility that will allow the user to backup their external storage data using one of two methods.

The methods being Full Backup and Incremental Backup. Full Backup doing exactly what it says, it backs up the entire storage device.

Incremental Backup will firstly Backup the entire data set and remember which has been backed up and then upon every other insertion of the USB storage device it will only backup the files that have changed.

Incremental Backup is the recommended option as this will save dramatically in backup time and only backup the files needed to backup.

How to use PenDriveBackup

To install PenDriveBackup you will firstly download the program from the software page or by clicking here.
After following the simple steps you will have succesfully installed the software.

First time running the software you will be prompted by the configuration manager in the software which will ask you whether or not you want to set up the software. If you choose 'no' the software will exit, if you choose 'yes' the software will help you configure itself.

If you choose 'yes' you will then be prompted by a box that has two options, 'full backup' and 'incremental backup'.
Full backup will backup the entire contents of the USB drive regardless of if you have backed the files up before.
Incremental backup will for the first time you backup with the drive it will do a full backup however for every reoccuring backups it will be done incrementally and only backup the files that have changed since the last backup thus saving you time on backing up.

The next setup information will be on where you want to backup the contents, you can either enter a file directory directly for example, 'C:\Backup" or you can click the directory button and can choose a backup directory visually.

After choosing the directory you will see the location in the box, if you are happy with the location simply click 'ok' and that will finish the setup for the software.

This will conclude the setup, the software is ready to use and can be minimized if you wish to the system tray if you press the minimize button. The program will sit in an idle state until you plug in a USB drive. When inserting a USB drive the software will identify this and ask whether or not you wish to backup the contents. Furthermore there is an option to remember your decision, this will remember the same decision for the indivudual USB drives.

If you choose 'yes' the software will then backup the contents using either full backup or incremental backup depending on what you have chosen.

On completion the form will update and tell you that the backup has complete.
